    Dear Malomamas and Malopapas,
I have a bit of a dilemma, so I thought that I'd ask my forum friends here for help.
Please feel free to chime in with your advice.
On weekends, I can hardly wait to spend time enjoying my favorite
pastime -- bass fishing. I've got my own little fishing boat and tried to
get my girlfriend to join me, but she just never liked fishing. Finally, one
day at the Bait & Tackle Shop, I got to talking to Sam the shop owner
who, as it turned out, loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly
became fishing buddies.  As I said, the girlfriend doesn't care about fishing.
She not only refuses to join us, she always complains that I spend too
    much time fishing.
A few weeks ago, Sam and I had the best fishing trip ever. Not only did I
catch the most beautiful bass you've ever seen, only a few minutes later,
Sam must have caught his twin brother! So I took a picture of Sam holding
up the two nice bass that we caught and showed the picture to the girlfriend,
hoping that maybe she'd get interested.  Instead, she says she doesn't
want me to go fishing at all anymore! And, she wants me to sell the boat! I
think she just doesn't like to see me enjoying myself. What
would you do? Tell the girlfriend to forget it and continue my hobby or quit
fishing and sell the boat as she insists?
    Thanks,
    David

P.S. My new photo is a picture of Sam with the two bass we caught.

Weemsie, it sounds to me like your girlfriend doesn't really hold your interests and/or feelings before her own, or even equal thereto.  I would toss her back and keep fishing, my friend.  Wink

If someone truly loves you they want you to be happy. I would hope that if your feelings for your girlfriend and her feelings for you are genuine and deep, that you would both be able to reach a compromise. Perhaps she could spend a weekend fishing with you even if it's not her favorite thing and you could spend a weekend enjoying and sharing her choice of activity...

Now...to the matter of the photograph of your new buddy "Sam"...eh...if it's your new avatar...any woman might be a tad concerned. I am actually surprise she only requested you sell the boat and give up fishing! I can see where a woman might be moved to agree to a fishing trip with you and then once you are happily situated in the middle of the lake...push you off the boat! LOL Just joshing...but speaking as a female...I would not share photos of well endowed young women bearing or is it baring? gifts....to any present or future girlfriends Wink

Best to you and your girlfriend and Sam. My heart is aching for the fish...poor dears...one minute happily swimming with their friends, the next... well...involved in a crime of passion and possibly fried in a pan.

I can't express
the ridiculous excess of joy;
the right set of chords,
the juxtaposition of a few notes and words,
can bring to a heart
that had broken apart
into thousands of pieces...
What a miracle this is!

David, you silly man! Cheesy Cheesy  Don't know if you've ever heard this country song before, but joke or not, you ought to give a listen to Brad Paisley's song, "I'm Gonna Miss Her" (The Fishing song) on Youtube. Fits this thread perfectly!! Grin Grin

Yes! It's been in the 40's and 50's here for gosh sakes.
I figured that people would definitely pick up on that.
So, Kudos to you, Cheryl.

I'm really all about having fun and I realize that some people
might have taken my "fish story" seriously.
To them, I say...sorry about that.....I was just playing.
I hope everyone else including Raul (if he saw it) had a good laugh!!!!  Grin Grin Grin

P.S. I hope that the next time I see "Sam", it's in person!!

Not to worry, thanks to your coming clean so quickly (not quickly enough to spare me of course...) very few people will be laughingstocks....really only me, coz Sunny was breezy enough to get out of this with her dignity intact. I could have deleted my idiotic post...but, I am well known for my gullibility; and although yes, it's true I feel slightly humiliated at being proven so stupid so publicly....it's a good lesson for me. Plus the amusement I will bring to people through the years as they peruse the forum archives, somewhat offsets my embarrassment...because just as you are "all about having fun", I am all about bringing joy and laughter to the world.

My gullibility is superseded only by my kind and forgiving heart. Cough....don't expect a birthday card from me though.... LOL

My intention was not to expose your gullibility, Crista.
I enjoy who you are and have shared several thoughts with you during my time here.
When I saw the thread going serious, I decided to quickly put an end
to the charade. I'm quite sorry that you were caught being the kind, caring and
considerate person that you obviously are. (All but the part of throwing me overboard!)
BTW, my b'day is Oct. 26th. I EXPECT you to send me
the same HUGS that I will send you for yours!  Wink
Warmly,
David

OK...I guess I can make you a card on your birthday. But it won't have a picture of Raul on it...maybe some fish will be involved in some way. Yes, fish and a man overboard...No... You, "Sam", a sinking boat and your "girlfriend" feeding piranhas into the lake...I'll have to work on it.

I was just being humorously (to me) obnoxious in my response. I'm really quite comfortable with my gullibility. I once made a total fool of myself pm'ing poor Raul all day to please have mercy on someone on the forum he was playing a joke on...I didn't eat all day with worry...he cut short his merriment to spare the innocent...poor guy. LOL Raul must have just fallen on the floor laughing at my pm's...I was trying to cut back on that sort of behavior but apparently I can't do it. I'm just going to embrace my inner dorkette.

Go forth and be amusing, with my blessings. Hopefully in the future I'll get the joke...although it's doubtful...I gotta talk to Ditzy about some good sense lessons Wink

You have a good heart, Crista, and I admire you for that.
I look forward to the birthday card!
